3D Printing and Fabrication Community of Practice
The 3D Printing and Fabrication CoP, facilitated by TechOWL staff, focuses on exploring how 3D printing can enhance Assistive Technology Act Program services. Discussions include sharing resources, strategies, and innovations to support individuals with disabilities through custom fabrication. This group meets six times a year to exchange ideas and collaborate on best practices.
We’re excited to announce that Loreto Dumitrescu will be joining us for this session. Here is their bio:
“My name is Loreto Dumitrescu and I am an occupational therapist who helps run a Brooklyn based non profit, Zero Day Camp, that focuses on youth computer science and media literacy. I support the local chapter of Makers Making Change through educational build events raising awareness of the power of 3D printing and physical computing in increasing equity to assistive technology.
Most recently, our chapter has been working on adaptive gaming using block based coding with MakeCode Arcade to create games for players new to adaptive gaming and switch access. We’ve also been encouraging exploration of physical computing using the low cost micro:bit for more customized computer and mobile access.”
